In addition to the Soundgear Clips, JBL also announced the Sense Pro open ear TWS earbuds. The JBL Sense Pro earbuds have a hook design like the Powerbeats Pro 2 for a more secure fit. They also have additional features to justify their higher price tag than that of the Soundgear Clips.
Available in Gray, Blue, Purple, White, and Black, the Sense Pro earbuds are designed to fit various ear shapes and sizes thanks to having adjustable titanium alloy hooks. JBL says the earbuds have a split-hook design for even weight distribution which helps to reduce pressure on the ear canal.
Unlike the Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 (available on Amazon for $249) which have an IPX4 rating, JBL's earbuds are rated IP54 for dust and water resistance. The earbuds also feature JBL's OpenSound with air conduction technology for producing immersive sound.
Each earbud has a 16.2 mm diamond-like carbon driver which JBL claims is faster and more accurate, and also delivers better bass with minimal distortion. Like the Soundgear Clips, the earbuds have JBL's Adaptive Bass Boost algorithm for improved bass and cleaner sounds.
In addition, the Sense Pro earbuds are Hi-Res Audio Wireless certified and have support for spatial audio and LDAC. These features are not available on the Soundgear Clips. The Sense Pro have four mics in total, too but JBL says there is a voice pickup sensor that ensures a user's voice is clear even when walking on a busy street or in a windy area. There's also AI noise reduction for removing background noise and wind in real time.
Other features of the new earbuds include Bluetooth 6.0 with support for Bluetooth Multipoint, Google Fast Pair, and compatibility with the JBL Headphone app. Using the companion app, owners will be able to adjust sound settings, activate spatial audio, create a personalized sound profile, and modify touch controls. The Sense Pro also supports using just one earbud alone.
The battery life is also 8 hours on a single charge, but with the case, the Sense Pro can last up to 38 hours, a 6-hour increase from that of the Soundgear Clips. There's support for fast charging as a 10-minute charge will provide up to 4 hours of use. The charging case supports wired charging as well as wireless charging.
The JBL Sense Pro will also be released in October with pricing set for €179.99 in Europe and £159.99 in the UK.
