The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a game that has left its mark on millions of gamers around the world. And here's what it might have looked like if it had been released today.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a game that made a big impact on the video game industry when it was released in 1998 on the Nintendo 64. And needless to say, millions of people around the world are fans of the license. And that’s a good thing, because this legendary game has recently been brought back to life with the help of Unreal Engine 5, and the result is incredible.

It's thanks to the talented modder Digital Dreams that this renaissance has taken place. Indeed, he used the mod already made by CryZENx, which took years to build, to see what The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time could look like if it was released today like any other great game.

With the help of an RTX 5090 graphics card, coupled with ray-tracing and 8K resolution, we can see a game that comes close to reality. Running easily at 30 FPS, it is possible to see incredible light and dynamic effects that add realism as he walks around Zora’s domain.

Constraints and fears for some fans

Although the result is breathtaking, and may make some fans want to play it, do not expect a complete adventure. Indeed, it is mainly a demo that does not contain any game mechanism. In other words, you can just walk around and enjoy the scenery.

But that's not all, because while Unreal Engine 5 is capable of resurrecting games with high-quality graphics, some people seem resistant to this aspect. Indeed, several comments point out that the smooth rendering of this version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time does not pay tribute to the charm of the original version. And the fear of seeing remakes that are very different from the original titles continues to grow.
