With the China-only RTX 5090D getting effectively shut down by Nvidia, a new alternative as arisen. It is called the RTX 5090 DD (yes, really) and cuts down on the original RTX 5090 even further. Given its specs, one might even consider it to be a RTX 5080 Ti.
The information comes from two reputable sources on X, @kopite7kimi and @Zed__Wang. The GeForce RTX 5090DD uses a PG145 SKU 40 board with a GB202-240-K*-A1 GPU which has 21,760 CUDA cores. While this count is the same as a regular RTX 5090, it comes with 24 GB of GDDR7 VRAM on a 384-bit bus and a TDP of 575 Watts.
This information effectively debunks an earlier leak which said the RTX 5090DD would launch with 14,080 CUDA cores. Kopite7Kimi adds, 'there is a surprise' but doesn't specify what it is. There's no word about when the RTX 5090DD will launch, but it probably won't be long. Interestingly, a part of these specs match that of the rumoured RTX 5080 Super (also a 24 GB VRAM graphics card), due to arrive in 2026.
