Shortly after confirming its existence, Samsung recently announced the official India launch date for the Galaxy S10 Lite. The near-flagship arrives in India on January 23rd. There's still no word on pricing, however.

The highly anticipated Galaxy S10 Lite finally has a proper India release date. Samsung India's Twitter page announced that the phone would be available in the Indian market from January 23rd onwards. The Galaxy S10 Lite will sell online through e-retailer Flipkart.

With a market share in excess of 20 percent, Samsung continues to do well in India. However, intense competition from the likes of Xiaomi have evidently forced the Korean giant to deliver better value midrange offerings. The Galaxy S10 Lite is set to deliver the bulk of the Galaxy S10's feature set, but at a lower price-point that would put it in contention with "flagship killers" like the OnePlus 7T and Xiaomi Mi 8.

Samsung has put considerable effort into the S10 Lite's camera setup. The phone features a 48MP rear primary camera, 12 MP 127-degree ultra-wide sensor, and a 5MP macro camera. On the front, it features a 32MP sensor. Samsung's new Super Steady OIS will be implemented.

The 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen is set to be a standard-bearer in the upper-midrange segment. But hardware-wise, we were most surprised by Samsung's decision to utilize the flagship Snapdragon 855 SoC. This means that the S10 Lite isn't just an S10 in name: it'll perform on par with its more expensive siblings.

Samsung has yet to announce pricing for the S10 Lite. However, we expect the phone to sell in the $500-650 range (INR 32,000 to INR 42,0000).
