Galaxy M55: Mid-range smartphone's price and specifications confirmed on Samsung Brazil's website
Shortly after the Galaxy A55 launched, rumours about its M variant started floating online. Like its predecessor, the Galaxy M55 would be remarkably different from the Galaxy A55, complete with a Snapdragon SoC and a 50 MP selfie camera. Samsung Brazil has officially listed the Galaxy M55 on its website.
As rumoured earlier, the Samsung Galaxy M55 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. One can expand the latter up to 1 TB via a microSD card. No other variants appear to be listed, but that usually varies on a region-by-region basis. It features a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The aforementioned selfie camera sits at the top of the screen.
At the back, the Galaxy M55 has a 50 MP wide-angle lens (OIS, f/1.8), an 8 MP ultra-wide angle lens (f/2.2) and a 2 MP macro lens (f/2.4). Video recording is capped at 4K 30 FPS and 720p 240 FPS for slow-motion. Unlike the Galaxy A55, on-device AI features are disabled, presumably due to the lack of a powerful NPU. Lastly, an under-display fingerprint sensor enables biometric authentication.
Other Samsung Galaxy M55 specs include a 5,000 mAh battery (45 W fast charging supported), up to five years of security updates (four OS updates), Samsung Knox, a USB 2.0 Type-C port for charging/data transfer, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC and stereo speakers. The Galaxy A55 costs B$2,999 ($600) in Brazil. Its price in other regions will likely be much lower.
