Galaxy A22: new renders might reveal color options in what might be Samsung's cheapest 5G phone of 2021
Samsung is rumored to have immediate successors to the Galaxy A21s in the works, 1 of which could lower the barrier of entry to the 5G smartphone market even further in 2021. Then again, it also apparently comes in 4G/LTE flavor.
Their latest leak consists of 2 new all-angle renders, 1 for the putative A22 5G and the other for the plain old A22. According to this images, both devices have the same square rear camera hump and will be available in white or black, and also in on-trend mild green or purple shades.
On first glance, the 2 members of the alleged series might look the same, especially given the choice of rear panels. However, on closer inspection, the A22 has quad rear cameras, whereas the A22 5G has only 3. They are thought to be 48+5+2+2MP and 48+5+2MP respectively.
The "A22 5G" also has a V-shaped display notch, whereas that of the A22 is U-shaped (however, they do both seem to have the same amount of chin). Of these, only the latter is rumored to be 60Hz FHD+ AMOLED, whereas the 5G model makes do with IPS-LCD. Then again, both are said to have a 5,000mAh battery
Finally, the A22 5G is linked to the MediaTek Dimensity 700, as opposed to the older Helio G80 in the 4G/LTE version Therefore, it seem Samsung may have cut some strategic corners so as to offer 5G (and decent-ish AMOLED) at Galaxy A2x price-levels. Then again, neither prospective variant has been graced with a launch date as yet.
