GMKtec recently made its first Strix Halo mini PC, the EVO-X2, available in China, and the company has now shared its plans for a global launch. The Ryzen AI Max+ 395-powered system will enter its international pre-sale phase on April 15, 2025, but there's no word on the global price yet.
As for the Chinese launch, the EVO-X2 became available to purchase at CNY 14,999, which currently converts to around $2,053. This makes GMKtec's latest release one of the most expensive mini PCs in the market, but it's worth noting that this hefty price tag is for the configuration with 128 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 2 TB of PCIe 4.0 storage (2 TB Samsung 990 EVO Plus curr. $139.99 on Amazon).
Regarding the global launch, GMKtec has hinted at the availability of one more configuration. To be specific, the company is currently taking a survey, in which there's mention of a second configuration with 64 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. It's not clear how low the price of this second configuration will be, but it's possible to make an estimate of the price difference by looking at the configurations available for the EVO-X1.
The GMK EVO-X1 with 32 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1 TB of PCIe 4.0 storage launched at $1,299.99. On the other hand, the configuration with 64 GB of RAM and the same amount of storage launched at $1,699.99. So, the second configuration of the Strix Halo EVO-X2 could be $400 cheaper.
Even so, given that the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395-equipped EVO-X2 launched with a hefty price tag in China, the chances of it starting at under $1,500 in the global market are very slim. Check out our Chinese launch coverage to learn more about this new Strix Halo mini PC.
