Oppo sub-brand Realme has launched its very first smartwatch. The new Realme Watch has a derivative look about it but offers the sharp value that we have come to expect from the brand.

Realme is gaining solid traction in the Indian consumer technology market so it is no surprise to see that it has launched its very first smartwatch there. The new Realme Watch will draw obvious comparisons to the Apple Watch but is much more affordable. As you would expect, it packs in a range of health tracking features, customization options and multiple watch faces to choose from.

The Realme Watch weighs in at just 31 grams and centers on a 1.4-inch LCD touchscreen display with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels. It incorporates a 160 mAh batter that the company says can deliver between 7 to 9 days of use on a charge depending on whether the heart rate monitor is set to on or off.  In addition to the heart rate monitor, it also includes a 3-axis accelerometer and blood oxygen measurement. It is compatible with Android 5 and up devices and sports Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity.

Health tracking features includes support for 12 sports activities from running, through to strength training and cricket. It is also IP68 water resistant while Realme says that it has thoroughly tested the device for durability. This includes a 100,000 times button test, 7 kg of tension resistance, 3,000 clasps and twisting up to 3,000 times. The Realme Watch goes on sale on June 5 from 12pm for the equivalent of just US$50 and will be available through its Indian webstore and Flipkart.
