The mystery free game event is back, and for May 2026, Epic Games Store is kicking it off with two freebies. In one previous announcement, the platform shared cryptic hints about them, and now, another set of hints has surfaced.

Epic Games Store has brought back the mystery free game event, and two freebies will start off the May 2026 lineup. With a previous announcement, the platform has already shared some cryptic hints about what these two could be, and now, another set of hints has been shared.

Just like the past hints, the new ones are pointing in a lot of directions. They give cover art clues of the upcoming mystery free games, and among the two, the first one has the colors Grey, Olive, Cyan, and Blue. The proportion of the colors shown appears to be a part of the clue as well, and this color combination matches the cover arts of many games.

Many guesses are pointing towards Subnautica, and the timing of the giveaway does back it up. For reference, Subnautica 2 will be released on May 14, 2026, the same day when the first two mystery free games of this month will be unveiled.

Giving away the first game would make people more interested in the second one, but it’s worth noting that the cover photo of Subnautica (available on the Humble store) does have traces of orange and yellow, which are not present in the clue.

As for the second clue, it has the colors Grey, Red, White, and Black. With the previously shared hints in consideration, many guesses are pointing towards Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which even somewhat matches the cryptic hint that Epic Games Store previously shared.

Other notable guesses are a game from the Hitman series, Control, Dave the Diver, and Kena. The good part is that the wait for the reveal isn’t long, and Epic Games Store can even share more concrete clues before the May 14 unveiling.
