Techland has officially pushed back Dying Light: The Beast’s release date from August 22 to September 19, 2025, just four weeks before the game’s highly anticipated debut, implying that they wish to polish the title further before release.
It seems Techland is taking its time when it comes to launching the highly anticipated sequel that builds on Dying Light’s storyline, while also following the original protagonist, Kyle Crane.
Techland broke the news in a press release on its official website, stating:
“It has always been our goal to make Dying Light: The Beast the best Dying Light game we’ve ever released. We understand that this may be disappointing, but our experience has shown how important the first impression is.”
The delay was announced on June 25, and Techland aims to use this extra time to fine-tune gameplay, polish UI clarity, refine cutscenes, and player animations amid feedback from recent playtests. Those attending Gamescom 2025 in Cologne, Germany, can still try out a playable demo of Dying Light: The Beast in Hall 6.
Fans took to social media, and the reception to the delay has been mixed. Some fans were disappointed, expressing eagerness to explore the new Castor Woods location in Dying Light: The Beast. Others, however, were more supportive of the delay, stating that Techland should take its time to polish the game rather than release a potentially buggy mess.
The delay shifts Dying Light: The Beast into a crowded September to October launch period alongside titles like Ghost of Yotei, Frostpunk 2, Borderlands 4, Ninja Gaiden 4, The Outer Worlds 2, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: Order of Giants DLC.
Dying Light: The Beast was originally announced as a DLC for Dying Light 2: Stay Human. However, considering the size and scope of the game, and the return of the game to its narrative roots, Techland decided to release it as a self-contained standalone experience.
Dying Light: The Beast will launch on September 19, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
