Doom: The Dark Ages is out on PS5, Xbox Series consoles, and PC. Along with the trio, the game is also available to stream via GeForce Now at launch, Nvidia has announced. It is the latest instalment in the series by id Software and Bethesda, but is set before the 2016 Doom and Doom Eternal. It is a single-player story driven experience that involves some new mechanics and weapons.
Nvidia is adding several news games to its cloud gaming portfolio, one of which is Doom: The Dark Ages. GeForce Now Ultimate and Performance members will have access to the game at launch, which is today, May 15, and some regions already have access to it. There is also a free in-game reward – the Doom Slayer Verdant skin – for these premium members. The reward will be available to those who have opted for the GeForce Now Rewards program.
Doom: The Dark Ages Standard Edition is priced at $70 for PC and is available via Steam, Microsoft Store, and Battle.net. It is also available via Game Pass. The Premium Edition is priced at $100. GeForce Now Ultimate membership (4K HDR, RTX, 240 FPS) is priced at $20 and GeForce Now Performance (1440p, RTX) is priced at $10 a month.
The game is also playable on the Steam Deck, though it is not officially supported. We found that it ran surprisingly well on the handheld at 720p with FSR Quality at low settings. According to the developers, running the game at 1080p 60 FPS at low settings requires a Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel Core i7 10700K paired with either an RTX 2060 Super or Radeon RX 6600. For 1440p high settings, an RTX 3080 or Radeon RX 6800 is recommended.
The other new games coming this week or already available on GeForce Now are The Precinct, Blacksmith Master, Capcom Fighting Collection 2, and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
