Dell XPS 15 9500 and XPS 17 9700 are launching this week; possible Alienware, Latitude and Precision refreshes on track too
The Dell XPS 15 9500 and XPS 17 9700 are arriving this week, according to Forbes Featuring 16:10 displays, leaked product pages have confirmed that the 9500 and 9700 will be offered with up to a Core i9-10885H processor, 64 GB of DDR4-2933 RAM and a 2 TB PCIe SSD. There are multiple differences between the two devices though, not least that the 17-inch model will have two M.2-2880 drive bays for up to 4 TB of storage. Additionally, while Dell will offer both with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti GPU, the same leaked product page claimed that the 9700 would also be available with a GeForce RTX 2060.
Now, Brooke Crothers has claimed that "Dell is planning to announce new big-screen XPS models this coming week". Without mentioning his sources, Crothers added that the 9500 and 9700 would arrive "possibly later in the week". Dell has not made any announcements confirming this, but Crothers seems confident of his claims. He has not offered any pricing details, though.
The XPS 15 9500 and XPS 15 9700 appear to be part of a more substantial Dell laptop refresh, too. As we reported last month, Dell briefly listed several Precision and Latitude product listings along with those for the XPS 15 9500 and XPS 17 9700. Additionally, several 3DMark listings for the Alienware Area-51m R2 have appeared online recently, as has a leaked advert for the Precision 7550 and Precision 7750. The appearance of all these leaks so close to each suggests that Dell has a massive hardware refresh planned, although not necessarily simultaneously. If Crothers is correct, then this week could be a special one for XPS fans.
