The Dell G5 15 Gaming has one too many flaws, including middling performance, a dull display and bad speakers -- all packed into a thick body.

Model: With Coffee Lake and a good mid-range GPU, Dell presents the G5 15 as a gaming notebook for the limited budget. It’s not a top-tier gaming laptop since it lacks the fastest video card options like the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 or 1080. But, with the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 (Max Q) 6GB video cards and the 8th generation Intel Core i5-8300H quad-core processor, the Dell G5 5587 still provides excellent performance for gaming, everyday computing, and demanding PC tasks like high-resolution video editing. The design is a matter of taste and probably will not please everyone. The retro appearance of the laptop is because the Dell G5 5587 is not only successor to the Inspiron 7577 but is also based on the same chassis. On the other hand, it is also what makes the Dell G5 15 stand out from the masses of budget gaming notebooks. The device can be ordered in black or red (Beijing Red) color. The Dell G5 comes with another disadvantage from Inspiron 7577. Despite being designed for gaming, the keyboard is definitely not made by gamers. The keys have short travel, while the arrows can make some games feels slightly unpleasant and annoying to play with the keyboard. On the other hand, the user has a big and comfortable NumPad sector, which is ideal for work. At 10.5 x 8.1 cm (4.1 x 3.2 inch), the touchpad offers a comfortably large input area with a matte surface. The touchpad is visually highlighted by a red edge printed on the input area.
In terms of its stability, the Dell G5 15 leaves a very good impression. Due to the hinges positioned in the center, the display becomes very stable. A user can open the display with one hand without any problems, and the maximum opening angle is sufficient at 140 degrees. The LG display of our Dell G5 15 5587 is the same as that of the Dell Inspiron 15 7000. With a diagonal of 15.5 inch, the IPS panel offers 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, corresponding to a pixel density of 141 PPI. Dell’s G5 15 5587 display boasts a decent contrast ratio, Full HD resolution and comfortable viewing angles. The Dell G5 15's right side provides full-size HDMI 2.0, Thunderbolt 3 Type-C, a pair of USB 3.0 and an audio jack. Over on the left, there's an SD card reader, a third USB 3.0, Gigabit Ethernet and a connector for the external 130 W power supply. A solid selection, and the forward-facing stereo speakers, tuned by Waves MaxxAudio Pro, are surprisingly powerful and able to fill a small room with clear sound. In idle operation, the 56 Wh battery lasts for almost 12 hours before the device has to be recharged. However, the battery operation does have a large disadvantage. CPU and GPU are throttled a lot in battery operation. As a conclusion, the Dell G5 15 5587 continues to be a good gaming notebook that appeals to buyers with its attractive price in particular. The performance is good and sufficient enough to be able to play all the current games in their native resolution.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Mobile: Mainstream graphics card based on Nvidia's Pascal architecture and successor to the GeForce GTX 965M. Is manufactured in a 14nm process at Samsung and the technical specifications are very similar to the desktop version.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

15.60":
15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.2.6 kg:
With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.

66.67%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
