The Casio AQS820W series, first spotted in April as a low-key reissue, is now officially available for purchase in the US. All three color variants - black (AQS820W-1AV), military green (AQS820W-3BV), and beige tan (AQS820W-5AV) - are listed at $55.95.
These new models revive the lesser-known AQ-S820 lineup, which is a practical series that slots in below Casio's G-Shock and Edifice ranges. Despite the affordable price tag, the feature set is solid. All three watches come equipped with Tough Solar charging, 100-meter water resistance, five daily alarms, dual countdown timers, LED backlight with afterglow, world time (covering 48 cities), a 1/100-second stopwatch, and a full auto-calendar until 2099.
The design, which is unchanged from the leak, stays true to the original's no-nonsense aesthetic. A flat resin bezel surrounds the legible hybrid dial, where white analog hands contrast pretty well against a dark background. The LCD display at the 6 o’clock position shows the date, day, and additional timekeeping functions.
With resin construction throughout - including the band and glass - the AQS820W weighs just 46 grams. Casio lists a battery life of up to 10 months on solar charge with regular use, or up to 23 months if stored in total darkness with power save mode on.
Functionally, it walks the line between utility and simplicity. It’s built for people who just want a dependable, solar-powered everyday watch that nails the basics. Each model is now available directly through Casio’s official US store, though at the time of writing, stock is marked as limited. For under $60, it’s arguably one of the better value picks in Casio’s current analog-digital range, especially if you’ve been looking for a G-Shock alternative without the bulk or price.
