After months of waiting, the Casio G-Shock MTG-B2000YBD-2AJF is now officially available to buy in Japan. Previously announced and opened for pre-orders back in early May, this model had been teased well in advance, which is quite in line with the Japanese brand’s long-standing focus on luxury in the MT-G segment.
This version takes the 2021 MTG-B2000YBD-1A platform and gives it a new colorway - deep navy with matte black - and a bezel that’s been re-engineered using laminated carbon and fiberglass. The rest of the body sticks with a familiar dual-core guard structure that sandwiches a carbon-reinforced monocoque case between stainless steel elements.
At 131g and over 55mm across, this watch isn’t exactly shy about its presence. It comes with the expected suite of G-Shock features: shock resistance, 200-meter water resistance, solar charging, and Multi-Band 6 radio syncing. It also includes Bluetooth connectivity through the Casio Watches app, letting users adjust time zones, check power status, and set alarms directly from their phone.
The dial is fully analog, backed by Casio’s Super Illuminator LED for nighttime visibility, and supported by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. The band is a composite structure that combines resin and metal, locked in place with a three-fold clasp.
Casio is now selling the MTG-B2000YBD-2AJF for ¥181,500 (about $1,250). While it’s currently a Japan-only release, international availability is likely to follow later soon after - just as earlier MT-G variants gradually rolled out to global markets.
