Already-ordered Xiaomi SU7 EVs to be available for customization but with potentially increased delivery times
One look at the Xiaomi SU7’s reception is enough to confirm that Xiaomi is set to become a household name in the EV space. The EV has reportedly garnered over 100,000 pre-orders during its initial offering. While the company will start delivering SU7 units to regular customers by the end of this month, it has a massive backlog to clear.
Unsurprisingly, the Xiaomi SU7 buyers could have to wait anywhere from 3 months for the standard SU7 to 7 months for the SU7 Max. However, customers who don’t mind having to potentially wait longer will be able to customize their already-ordered standard SU7 EVs on April 19th at 9 am China time.
As reported by Pandaily (via AreanEV), Xiaomi will allow the prospective owners of the standard SU7 a 24-hour window to customize their orders from inside the Xiaomi Car App. However, customers who modify their orders will have to contend with new SU7 delivery times, potentially resulting in longer than the current 3-4 month window.
Long wait times can result in lost orders, so we’ll have to wait and see if the perks offered by the Xiaomi SU7, like the Tesla Model 3-beating range and full integration with Xiaomi products, are enough to keep the consumers patiently waiting for their cars.
