AYN Technologies has postponed the release of the AYN Odin by a month, an Android-based handheld games console. The Odin is available in three configurations and supports an optional Super Dock.

It has been a few months since the AYN Odin launched on Indiegogo, where it has since grossed over US$750,000 from backers. To recap, AYN Technologies offers the Odin in models: Lite, Base and Pro. All have identical 1080p displays, LPDDR4X RAM, and UFS 2.1 storage, but a few differences exist between the three.

For one, the Odin Lite has a Dimensity 900 SoC, compared to the Snapdragon 845 in the Odin Base and Odin Pro. Additionally, only the Odin Pro has 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage and a 6,000 mAh battery. Incidentally, the Odin Lite runs Android 11, whereas the Odin Base and Odin Pro have Android 10.

Initially, AYN Technologies had hoped to ship orders to backers in December, but that has slipped until January 2022 at the earliest. According to the company, it cannot mass-produce the assembly mould or the heatsink until December. Moreover, AYN Technologies states that it will take the extra month to troubleshoot firmware issues with the console and the optional Super Dock docking station.

All Odin configurations are still available to order through Indiegogo InDemand. InDemand orders start at US$199 and should start shipping in January 2022, too.
