A new leak shows a detailed view at what's allegedly the display of the upcoming 12-inch MacBook Air. According to the source, this could be the first MacBook that lacks a translucent glowing Apple logo on the back.

A few weeks ago, we first reported that Apple is planning to launch a brand new 12-inch Macbook Air. The new notebook is expected to be launched at some point this summer, although other unofficial sources suggest that the device could be launched as early as the end of Q1 2014. Today the first live photos of the notebook have surfaced in the Chinese social networks, allowing us a detailed look at how the display of the new notebook sizes up to that of other Apple devices.

The leaked photo gallery contains several photos of the 12-inch MacBook Air display. As expected, the new model will be a bit smaller than the existing 13-inch MacBook Air. Another photo shows that the display will be only slightly thicker than the Apple iPad Air 2.

Interestingly, the silver frame that surrounded the display on previous MacBook Air models is gone. These leaked photos show a display that's fully covered in glass, much like the panels on the Retina MacBook Pro. According to the leakster, the new model will be the first MacBook to come without a glowing Apple logo, although this information should be digested with the proverbial grain of salt. The glowing logo on the back is a trademark feature of Apple's notebook series.
