Tesla has shipped a record number of vehicles for the sixth consecutive quarter, handily beating analyst predictions. Wall Street analysts had predicted that due to the ongoing chip shortages and supply chain constraints, Tesla would only be able to deliver 263,026 cars. The company beat the predictions by delivering 308,600.

Tesla has announced that the company has shipped a record 308,600 vehicles. The number is considerably higher than analyst predictions of 263,026 cars. To put the company’s record deliveries in perspective, these quarterly figures are 70% higher than Q4 last year. This rapid expansion of EV deliveries comes amid a historic global chip shortage and far-reaching supply constraints.

To brace the chip shortage, Tesla went against the auto industry and didn’t cut its chip demand in 2020, a year when vehicles suffered a hit globally. As a result, the company has been able to ramp up production in China, allowing it to up vehicle shipment by 87% to 936,172 EVs in 2021. Tesla is expected to ship more than a million vehicles in 2022, despite the ongoing supply chain troubles.

That said, Musk’s company still has a rocky 2022 ahead due to tightening regulations and safety issues prompting vehicle recalls.
