Lenovo president confirms 10-inch IdeaPad and ThinkPad tablets

According to the WSJ, Lenovo president Rory Read has revealed in an interview additional details about the yet to be released IdeaPad K1 and ThinkPad line of tablets. Previously, the ThinkPad tablet was leaked on April with impressive specs. Amongst the details include a confirmation on the 10-inch screen sizes, Android Honeycomb support, and even a price range of $450 to $900, depending on the model and probably internal storage size.

A smaller 7-inch tablet will be coming from Lenovo as well, but Read would not confirm which OS the device will be coming with.

Lenovo has announced at least one other 10.1-inch tablet so far, called the LePad tablet PC. Whether or not this tablet is the same as the IdeaPad K1 tablet is currently unknown.

As to why Lenovo is taking a long time with its tablet plans, Read claims the extra time is needed in order to provide a fully polished design both in hardware and software. A customized UI will be used on top of the Android experience, which Read hopes will be one of the major selling points of the Lenovo tablets when compared to other Android tablets currently in the market.

“We only have one opportunity to make that first good impression,” said Read.  

The IdeaPad K1 is expected to launch next month in July, while the ThinkPad models will have to wait a bit longer for their August release.
