We recently published on the Magnus EN980 mini PC with GTX 980 graphics and hinted that a Pascal update was likely in the works. Zotac has lived up to expectations today with the announcement of the Magnus EN1080 with GTX 1080 graphics.
The EN1080 utilizes the same chassis and design as the outgoing EN980 including its dual HDMI 2.0 ports, dual mDP 1.3 ports, dual gigabit RJ-45 ports, and even the dual AC adapter inputs. This unfortunately means that the system will continue to utilize two power bricks whereas most mini PCs and notebooks run on only one. There will, however, be new customizable Spectra LED lighting around the chassis to monitor performance and activity.
The CPU has been updated as well from the dual-core Core i5-6400 to the quad-core Core i7-6700. This upgrade is particularly notable as we criticized the relatively weak performance of the Core i5-6400 in our Magnus EN980 review when compared to most gaming notebooks with Core i7 options.
Despite the immense power and liquid cooling, the EN1080 is curiously still missing Thunderbolt 3 compatibility. First shipments are expected to begin before the end of this year with no prices announced just yet. The previously revealed EN1060 and EN1070 have already begun shipping.
