Yota Devices, manufacturer of one of the most interesting smartphones on the market, the dual-screen YotaPhone 2, has just starting rolling out an update to Android 5.0 Lollipop. That’s not the end of the news – YotaPhone 2 is now also cheaper and available in white.
YotaPhone 2 has been available on the market since December last year (launch in the US is planned for July). The phone boasts pretty decent hardware, with 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU, 2 GB of RAM and 5-inch Full HD screen. However, its most distinctive feature is the second, 960x540 pixels e-ink display on the back of the device, that can be used for widgets, notifications, etc. So far, the device has only been available in black and with Android 4.4 KitKat on board.
The new, white version is Yota Devices answer to users asking for a white background for the e-ink interface. Only the back and sides of the new phone are white. There are also some minor design changes, like a metallic volume button or the ring around the camera lens.
The white YotaPhone 2 will ship will Android 5.0 Lollipop. The existing, black version, will receive the update via OTA.
Apart from a new color version, YotaPhone 2 also received a price cut. It can now be bought for only £440 (that’s as much as £115 cheaper than the initial price) in the UK and €599 in the rest of Europe (€100 cheaper).
