YZG-X1 external enclosure supports two M.2 2280 SSDs with up to 8TB

Crowdfunding campaigns can make it relatively easy to raise funds to develop and later launch a new product. However, crowdfunding is also used by established manufacturers that likely do not need the financing but are just looking to market their new products. That being said, this latest Kickstarter campaign might involve a higher risk and a product that is not particularly innovative or special, as there are countless alternatives available at various retailers.
Specifically, the YZG-X1 is a new external enclosure for up to two SSDs. It supports SSDs in the M.2 2280, M.2 2260, M.2 2242, and M.2 2230 form factors, so there are no mentionable limitations in that regard. A maximum total capacity of 8TB is supported, which allows users to store large amounts of data locally. During longer data transfers, throttling should be avoided thanks to active cooling with a small fan, with additional heat dissipation through the aluminum housing.
Either way, there are inconsistencies in terms of specs that might be a red flag for spending money on this campaign. To be more exact, the peak transfer rate is listed as 10 and 40 Gbps. This can be a huge difference for users who are looking for a particularly fast SSD enclosure and regularly move numerous big files. According to the specifications, the enclosure measures 3.5 x 2.9 x 0.8 inches and connects via USB 3.2 Type-C, which would align with a transfer rate of up to 10 Gbps. The X1 enclosure can be attached magnetically to an iPhone in order to store high-res video or pictures.
