Between June 24 and 26, Game Pass subscribers welcomed three new titles, including a classic real-time strategy series. To close out the month, Call of Duty: WWII brings something new for shooter fans. Then, on July 1, Little Nightmares II and Rise of the Tomb Raider will join the lineup.
Call of Duty: WWII - June 30 (PC and console)
Call of Duty: WWII, the 14th main installment in the series, was released on November 3, 2017. The campaign takes players to the Western Front of World War II, where you step into the boots of Ronald "Red" Daniels, a young infantryman from the U.S. 1st Infantry Division. From the D-Day landings in Normandy to the push through France, the liberation of Paris and the final battle at the Rhine, the story presents iconic moments of the war through the eyes of an ordinary frontline soldier.
The gameplay of Call of Duty: WWII drops the high-tech gadgets seen in Advanced Warfare and Infinite Warfare, returning to classic "boots-on-the-ground" combat. You sprint, slide and take cover behind sandbags, barricades and ruins – no jetpacks or wall runs, just gritty, grounded action. Authentic World War II weapons like the M1 Garand, MP-40 and Thompson deliver satisfying, punchy feedback. In the campaign, health doesn’t regenerate automatically. Instead, you rely on your squad – requesting bandages from the medic, grabbing ammo from teammates or getting cover fire when under pressure. This creates a strong sense of teamwork throughout. Multiplayer introduces a division system that shapes your playstyle, along with objective-driven modes like "War," where players build bridges or escort tanks. For those who enjoy a darker twist, the survival mode Nazi Zombies offers a brutal and chaotic side challenge.
Little Nightmares II - July 1 (PC, cloud and console)
Little Nightmares II is a dark puzzle-platformer with strong horror elements, known for its haunting atmosphere and cinematic style. You play as Mono, a young boy wearing a paper bag over his head, who wakes up in a twisted world filled with grotesque adult monsters. Alongside Six – the girl in the yellow raincoat from the first game – you journey from a decaying forest cabin through a terrifying school and into the neon-lit Pale City, eventually reaching the Signal Tower, whose eerie radio waves warp reality itself. Told without dialogue, the game weaves a powerful story about manipulation and loss, with the evolving relationship between Mono and Six at its emotional core.
In Little Nightmares II, you navigate the eerie world through classic 2.5D side-scrolling gameplay, climbing, sneaking and solving puzzles along the way. The puzzles often rely on physics, timing and teamwork – Six might steady a ladder while Mono boosts her to a higher platform. Encounters with enemies like the deranged teacher or the creepy surgeon demand stealth and patience, as direct confrontations are usually fatal. Mono can occasionally fight back with found objects like hammers, using them to smash obstacles or defend himself against enemies like porcelain children. While the checkpoint system is fair, each encounter remains tense – one wrong move can mean starting over.
Rise of the Tomb Raider - July 1 (PC, cloud and console)
Rise of the Tomb Raider, the eleventh main entry in the Tomb Raider series and the second part of the reboot trilogy that began in 2013, was released on November 10, 2015. This time, Lara Croft heads to the frozen wilderness of Siberia in search of the lost city of Kitezh, said to lie beneath the ice. There, she hopes to uncover the "Divine Source" – a mythical artifact believed to grant eternal life. Along the way, Lara faces brutal snowstorms, dangerous wildlife and the ruthless secret organization Trinity, which is after the same power. To survive, she has access to a versatile arsenal: pistols, shotguns and assault rifles for open combat, and bows and climbing axes for stealth and close-quarters takedowns.
The game blends open hub areas with light survival mechanics and won praise from critics for its immersive portrayal of the Siberian wilderness. Beyond intense shootouts, Lara explores hidden tombs, navigates tricky climbing sections and solves physics-based puzzles. A deep crafting system adds another layer to the experience. By gathering resources, you can upgrade weapons, create ammunition and craft essential gear – all of which boost Lara’s ability to survive the harsh, frozen terrain.
