As part of an ongoing crowdfunding campaign, the XLaserlab E3 system is currently available at a discounted price. Like all crowdfunding campaigns, it carries significant financial risks for buyers. With that out of the way, the 7-watt variant of this laser cutter can be reserved for $3,898 plus shipping. Meanwhile, the 10-watt configuration starts at $5,695, deliveries are expected in April 2026.
UV laser for engraving and cutting
The E3 features a UV laser and is capable of working with heat-sensitive materials. In a short clip, the manufacturer engraves a pattern onto a match head without igniting it. The focal point can be adjusted to 0.005 millimeters, which is suitable for very detailed and delicate work. It’s even possible to perform 3D engraving on glass when creating a customized gift, for instance.
The laser can also cut materials. Specifically, it can cut wood and glass that’s up to 12 millimeters thick, while aluminum and stainless steel are limited to 1 millimeter. Metallic surfaces can be marked with color for good repeatability and low variations when producing multiple objects that are supposed to be identical.
Limited working space
Precise positioning is not required, since the laser uses cameras to detect the location of workpieces. With an additional accessory similar to a lathe, round workpieces can also be processed. However, the working area is rather limited. A single workpiece can measure up to 150 x 150 millimeters, and with a conveyor belt, workpieces up to 150 x 800 millimeters can be processed.
