Earlier this month, VAIO announced upgraded versions of the SX12 and SX14, two laptops that it debuted in Japan. In comparison, the company has unveiled the FE 14.1 in the US, where it will be available through third-party retailers like Walmart and Sam's Club. As Liliputing notes, Walmart has already started selling the VAIO FE 14.1, unlike Sam's Club.
At launch, VAIO has decided to offer the FE 14.1 in three configurations, starting at US$699. However, all configurations come in a choice of the same three colours, billed simply as black, blue, rose gold and silver. Additionally, all configurations have a 14.1-inch display that operates at 1080p in a 16:9 aspect ratio with a built-in privacy shutter and a 2 MP webcam. Likewise, all VAIO FE 14.1 models have Ethernet, HDMI, 3.5 mm audio and USB Type-C connections. Also, VAIO has included an SD card reader and three USB Type-A ports.
For reference, the VAIO FE 14.1 measures 325 x 221 x 20 mm and weighs 1.58 kg. Moreover, two configurations come with the same 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB SSD. Conversely, the entry-level edition settles for 8 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD. Still, all SKUs feature a fingerprint scanner, a precision touchpad and up to 10 hours of battery life. The VAIO FE 14.1 is available at the following prices:
- Intel Core i5-1235U/8 GB of RAM/512 GB SSD: US$699
- Intel Core i5-1235U/16 GB of RAM/1 TB SSD: US$799
- Intel Core i7-1255U/16 GB of RAM/1 TB SSD: US$949
