Ubiquiti launches UniFi Whole Home WiFi 7 home mesh solution

Ubiquiti just announced a new home WiFi router solution for the consumer market. This is a field that hasn't been much of a focus  for the company lately. The new product is called Whole Home Wifi 7 and consists of up to three UniFi Express 7 units that support mesh networking.

In a way, Whole Home WiFi is a successor to the AmpliFi products Ubiquiti launched roughly a decade ago. Back in 2016, Ubiquiti sold an easy-to-use router with mesh points and a small touchscreen on the router. Back then, it took a while to persuade retailers to list the item. Ubiquiti was still fairly new, especially in the consumer market.

As part of the UniFi system the Whole Home WiFi system is also capable of being integrated into larger installations, including with Ubiquiti's Travel Router, which is now also offered in a special long-range version.

Each Whole Home WiFi 7 unit has a 10GbE WAN port and an additional 2.5GbE LAN port. According to Ubiquiti, each unit can cover 1,750 ft² with WiFi 7 while supporting all three WiFi frequency bands (2.4, 5, and 6 GHz). Communication between mesh points uses Multi-Link Operation (MLO) over 5 GHz and 6 GHz.

The units are powered via USB Type C with an included adapter and require a maximum of 22 watts. 

Ubiquiti already lists the units on its own web shop. A single unit is being sold for 214 US dollars including a 15 USD memory surcharge. Two units in a package cost 408 USD, and finally, the three-unit combo is listed at 603 USD, giving buyers a little bit of a volume discount.
