Transformer 2 could be first to pack Kal-El processor
NVIDIA’s latest Tegra processor still hasn’t found its way into devices, but that hasn’t prevented the rumor mill from overflowing. Codenamed after a young Superman, the Kal-El processor was announced back in February and the latest word now indicates that it could appear soon in ASUS tablet form.
According to the folks over at Fudzilla, the quad-core Tegra chip will make its debut via the second generation of ASUS’s popular Transformer tablet. The new NVIDIA SoC (system-on-a-chip) was expected to pop up this month, but that appears to have changed with devices not expected to hit the market till early 2012.
This wouldn’t be the first we've heard of the next Transformer being couple with a Tegra 3 processor, and an earlier report even indicated that the tablet could feature Windows 8 as on OS. Either way, much has been promised with regards to the latest Tegra chip, with NVIDIA claiming that it provides 5 times the performance with even better power management than the current generation. And with the Transformer being the success that it is, maybe a marriage of the two will result in something quite “super”.
