Reviews for the Toshiba Satellite M70

There are a many things to like about the particular Toshiba notebook. One of them is the trubrite WXGA monitor, which provides an exceptional image, hence the HD-to-go sticker which Toshiba placed on the notebook. Despite its high response rates, little to no ghosting was apparently to my eyes. Another strong point of the notebook is the Harman/Kardon speakers, which make a truly good built in audio source. The final and perhaps strongest point of the M70-159 is the connectivity. The integrated WiFi and Bluetooth, along with the LAN, modem and i-Link provide the M70-159 with plenty of user options. The only truly negative point of the sample which we received was the amount of RAM installed, to run this machine with 256 megabytes of ram really hinders performance and an upgrade to 1 gigabyte of memory should immediately be considered unless you like waiting continually on hard drive paging. Other minor negative points are the paint on the top lid which is very prone to scratches, and the use of the Intel 2200BG WiFi chip which has certain compatibility problems with several routers and other devices.

A fast, well featured laptop and after 2-weeks of use, I'm very happy with it. For my purpose, mobility and 3D speed was of the utmost importance and this laptop delivers. Toshiba has selected a good batch of components, put them into a quality product and still kept the price well within reach. For just $800 AUD more than a basic entry level machine you can get a machine that is capable of everything. Highly recommended

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 900: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 is an integrated (onboard) graphic chip with shared memory on Mobile Intel 915GM chipset. It is the predecessor of Graphics Media Accelerator 950. The performance can be compared with the Mobile Radeon 9000 (with a 64 bit memory bus).
These graphics cards are not suited for Windows 3D games. Office and Internet surfing however is possible.

Intel Pentium M: With Intel chip set (855 or 915) and Intel WLAN also available with the name Centrino (name for the package).
In the comparison very fast per megahertz and very modest with weaknesses in floating point operations.
It is also available as a low voltage version with very small current consumption.

15.40":
15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.2.7 kg:
With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.
