Deal | This well-reviewed fantasy strategy game is under $6 for the first time on Steam

In Songs of Conquest, rival factions fight for supremacy in the fantasy world of Aerbor. Players explore a diverse world map, conquer new territories and expand their cities while building increasingly powerful armies. When opposing forces meet, battles unfold turn by turn. Powerful spells can shake up the battlefield and even turn seemingly hopeless fights around.
In terms of gameplay, Songs of Conquest takes clear inspiration from Heroes of Might and Magic, but also introduces some ideas of its own. The magic system is particularly interesting: Which spells are available in battle depends directly on the composition of your army. Different unit types generate different kinds of magical essence, which can then be used to cast spells. As a result, simply filling your army with the strongest units isn't necessarily the best strategy.
Four factions with distinct strengths, weaknesses and playstyles help keep things varied. There are also several story campaigns, standalone conquest maps and a map editor that allows players to create their own adventures. More details on the gameplay can be found in our previous article about the game.

In its review, PC Games (in German) particularly praised Songs of Conquest for its successful blend of strategy and RPG mechanics, tactically demanding battles and substantial amount of content. However, the reviewers were less impressed by the somewhat underwhelming storytelling and occasionally unfair AI. The publication ultimately awarded the game 8 out of 10 points. Metacritic lists the strategy game with a Metascore of 78 and a user score of 7.2.
Players have also responded positively to Songs of Conquest, with 85% positive ratings from more than 13,600 Steam reviews. And thanks to its Steam Deck Verified status, the game should also run smoothly on the go.
First-ever 80% discount on Steam
Songs of Conquest normally costs around $30 on Steam, but it's currently 80% off until November 2, bringing the price down to just $5.99. According to SteamDB, the previous maximum discount was 75%, making this the game's lowest price ever.
