The new Arnova 8 tablet from Archos now shipping

Teaser
The budget 8-incher from Archos is shipping at only $161.39, Éclair comes alongwith

Last I checked, Amazon said only 1 unit was left to be ordered. But then you don’t get to buy a decent tablet for as low as $161.39. Yes, the Arnova 8 501700 from the French tablet giant Archos is that cheap, but also gives you an 8” TFT LCD display panel with a not-so-cool resolution of 800 x 600 pixels and an aspect ratio of 4:3, Android 2.1 aka Éclair and an 800MHz processor under-the-hood, 4GB internal storage space and support for 720p video playback.

Archos compromises on the display panel to give you a resistive glass, and the battery life to reduce it to only about 5.5 hrs while playing videos. Wireless connectivity is taken care of by the 802.11b/g Wi-Fi module, and there are the usual I/O options you find in a basic tablet PC.

The 1.2 pound (0.54kg) gadget has a dimension of 4.2” x 0.5” x 8”.
