Valve has confirmed that it will hold its annual DOTA 2 tournament, The International (abbreviated as TI for brevity) 10, in Bucharest, Romania. Initially, it was set to take place in Stockholm, Sweden, but some ongoing issues with the Swedish Government forced Valve to look elsewhere. There has been a slight delay in the schedule, too. A TI . Usually, a TI happens in August of every year, but TI10 has been pushed to October 2021.
The TI 10 group stages will happen between October 7 and 10. Teams that survive will get to play on the main stage between October 12 and October 17. Valve has picked Romania's largest stadium, Arena Nationala, for the event. This is the first time a TI has been held within EU borders. Valve chose Shanghai's Mercedes Benz Arena for 2019's TI9, before which the tournament was exclusive to North American shores. Information about tickets prices should emerge shortly.
Initially slated to happen in 2020, Valve has to cancel TI 10 due to the coronavirus pandemic. TI9's total prize pool was a little over US$34 million. The stakes are a lot higher this time around, as it has crossed the US$40 million mark. Usually, the winner gets to claim approximately 45% of the total amount, so one team could potentially walk away with a neat US$18 million.
