Though not widely known in Europe and North America, Micromax is a top supplier of smartphones in South Asia and the Middle East. The Indian company's newest flagship, the Canvas 4, launched recently loaded with more features than we've ever seen on a device in this price range.
The new mobile has a 5-inch 1280 x 720 IPS display, a MediaTek MT6589 quad-core 1.2 GHz processor, a Power VR SGX 544 GPU, 1 GB of RAM, Android 4.2.1, 16 GB internal memory (expandable to 32 GB), a 5 MP front-facing camera, and a 2000 mAh battery. It also has an impressive 13 MP back-facing camera with a Sony sensor that includes a 4X optical zoom, 99 shot burst capability, Anti-Shake technology, and HD 1080p video recording (at 30 FPS).
Miramax has also included a long list of software features (many of which we've seen on Samsung smartphones and tablets in the past year) including the ability to pin a video to the screen, running apps side by side for improved multitasking, unlocking by blowing on the phone or shaking it, video that pauses automatically if you look away, and the option to answer or dial automatically by placing the phone close to your ear.
The Canvas 4 is available in White and Grey starting at 17,999 Indian Rupees (US$297).
