The Cybertruck is made of stainless steel and needs specialized products to clean its surface, including to remove the tiny so-called 'rust' spots that sometimes form on it.

Tesla has introduced a new $120 set of cleaning products for its most popular Model Y and Model 3 vehicles that can also be used on the painted Model S and Model X. For the Cybertruck, however, it offers a separate one at a higher price.

For that kind of money, one can get the much larger and more comprehensive Renegade Tesla Model Y Detailing Kit that will go a longer way for cleaning your Tesla, official logo on the box or not.

The set consists of "four cleaning solutions formulated for the different surfaces of your Tesla, microfiber towels and a travel case for easy storage." It also warns that the new Model 3, Model S, Model X, and Model Y detailing kit is only "intended for quick spot cleaning of your vehicle’s exterior and interior."

What's in Tesla's detailing kits?

When it comes to the interior and glass cleaning, Tesla offers four microfiber towels and one bottle for cleaning "hard interior surfaces including dashboard, instrument panels, center console, door panels, steering wheel, shifting knob and interior trim."

Another bottle for glass surfaces is shared between the Model Y and Cybertruck kits. When it comes to the exterior products, however, of notable absence is any mention of an all-purpose cleaner for the Cybertruck.

Instead, the $130 Cybertruck detailing kit has two different bottles for the exterior. One is meant for "quick spot cleaning, light dust and dirt removal and touch ups," just like the popular CitriSurf 77 stainless steel cleaner.

The other product, however, warns Cybertruck owners about all the dangers to its unorthodox surface lurking in the wild. Apparently, the stainless wash spray bottle creates a film that repels "oil, soil, soap scum, fingerprints, UV rays and hard water."

It is an odd combination of things to worry about as a Cybertruck owner, but it might be worth it, as stainless steel is reactive, and things like bird droppings need to be cleaned on the spot.

The Cybertruck can also develop "rust" speckles that will need to be polished away with something like the Bar Keeper Friend kit, so spraying a protective film beforehand could save a lot of cleaning afterward.
