Tesla is hinting that one will be able to transport their pets without a person accompanying them thanks to the autonomous Robotaxi revealed earlier this month.
In a new teaser, Tesla calls the Robotaxi a Cybercab that is an "individualized point-to-point autonomous transport" which can be used both for people and, apparently, dogs. This would come in handy if one wants to drop off their pooch or cat to a friend or relative nearby for pet sitting, too.
The Robotaxi screen would then show the typical "My human will be back soon" missive known from Tesla's Dog Mode option, along with the cabin temperature for any passerby who might get worried about a dog traveling alone in a driverless car.
In addition, Tesla gives a little sneak peek into the way the Cybercab service app will work, complete with the ride request, and the lock screen notifications with the time remaining to the Robotaxi's arrival when one is in a hurry for the airport.
In addition, the Robotaxi will adjust its seats, cabin temperature and even set the music according to the passengers profile stored in the app before arrival, so that they can easily get in or out, then travel in the desired comfort without bothering to adjust all those options first.
It remains to be seen how will all of that work in practice, but Tesla revealed that it has been testing the Cybercab ride-share service for a good while internally with its Bay Area employees. Apparently, the features are already lying dormant in its app and are not something that Tesla has to now develop from scratch still.
This explains the code strings mentioning self-cleaning or other pertinent Robotaxi options that were being found throughout the year by inquiring developers.
