Firefighters conducted a training exercise to break through the Tesla Cybertruck's windows, requiring three strikes to form the first crack and over twelve strikes to completely shatter the glass window.

The Tesla Cybertruck made headlines when it first made an appearance at a Los Angeles event in 2019 - not only because of its angular, unconventional design, but because of the demonstration that followed. During said demo, the truck’s "armored glass," unexpectedly shattered when Elon Musk chucked a steel ball at it. The incident quickly went viral, overshadowing the truck's other features at the time. Regardless, pre-orders surged afterward, and now - almost 5 years later, another demonstration shows how tough the Cybertruck windows really are.

Firefighters attempted to break through the Cybertruck's glass as part of a training exercise. The test, which involved three strikes for the first crack to form and nearly twelve strikes to shatter the window completely, demonstrated the durability of the Cybertruck's reinforced glass - a key feature Tesla has promoted. The use-case for this shatter test is essential for first responders, who may need to break windows during emergencies. Understanding the toughness of these windows will help firefighters better prepare for situations where accessing a vehicle quickly is critical, especially in accidents or rescue operations.

The firefighters in this test clearly held back from using full force when striking the Cybertruck's windows, as their priority in real-world situations would be to ensure the safety of anyone trapped inside. When breaking through glass in emergencies, responders must be careful not to send shards flying inward, which could harm the occupants.

On the other hand, the impressive toughness of the Cybertruck's windows does raise some concerns. For instance, if the glass is too strong, it might pose a challenge for those inside trying to escape during a crisis, such as after a crash. While it's great for security, there’s always the risk that its robustness could delay rescue efforts or self-extrication in urgent situations. Hopefully, similar future real-world tests will shed light on the same.
