Tesla Cybertruck gets recalled for the fifth time within its first year on the road
Tesla's Cybertruck is a vehicle that is no stranger to the limelight, but more often than not, it finds itself in the news for all the wrong reasons. While undoubtedly futuristic, the electric pickup has been plagued with several issues, including but limited to those concerning range, build quality, and more.
Just recently, Tesla has issued yet another recall for the Cybertruck, its fifth one so far. This time around, it is not a faulty windshield wiper or an accelerator pedal with the potential of getting stuck, but rather its rear-view camera that is to be blamed.
Basically, all the Tesla Cybertrucks manufactured between November 13th, 2023, and September 14th, 2024 - which is basically every single Cybertruck in existence, might suffer from a situation where the reversing camera may simply go blank for up to eight seconds, while regulation requires the reversing camera to be up and running within two seconds.
Accordingly, Tesla has made a voluntary recall and is rolling out an over-the-air (OTA) update to remedy the situation. NHTSA defines a 'recall' as any kind of safety defect that requires manufacturer intervention, whether it be an OTA update or a physical repair. But such regulations are in place for a reason -- so that when you pop your Cybertruck in reverse, you're not backing straight into the unknown.
