Dethleffs' sustainable electric motorhome, e.home ECO, was recently unveiled at the Caravan Salon 2025 and demonstrates what environmentally motorhomes of the future may look like. Featuring a fully electric drive, innovative solar technology and consistently eco-friendly materials, the concept vehicle demonstrates a possible path to emission-free camping.

Dethleffs recently unveiled its e.home ECO concept, a fully electric motorhome that premiered at the Caravan Salon 2025. The concept is part of the "Destination Future" project and is intended to demonstrate how sustainable and emission-free travel in a motorhome is possible. The company plans to launch a production-ready model by 2028.

Technical specs and drive

The e.home ECO is based on the Ford E-Transit (model year 2023) with a rear-wheel drive. The electric motor delivers 135 kW (184 hp) and enables a WLTP range of currently around 240 kilometers (150 miles). Dethleffs is aiming for a range of at least 400 kilometers (248 miles) for series production. The curb weight of the concept vehicle is 3,425 kilograms (7,550 pounds).

Sustainability and energy supply

The vehicle does not use any fossil fuels. A solar system on the roof and rear with a nominal output of 1,700 watts provides electricity inside. Heating, cooling and ventilation are provided by an electric heat pump, while an induction hob is available for cooking, and cooling is provided by a floor-to-ceiling compressor refrigerator.

Materials and interior design

The outer shell is made of flax fiber sandwich panels, while the insulation is made of recycled PET bottles. The furniture and work surfaces are made of expanded corn, the upholstery of sheep's wool, and the floor of linoleum with cork content. Dethleffs thus demonstrates how eco-friendly materials can be used in motorhome construction.

Concept vehicle – no prices available yet

As a concept vehicle, no prices are currently available. A production-ready model is expected to be available from 2028. In any case, the e.home ECO clearly shows what sustainable electric mobility in the motorhome sector could look like in the future and may set standards for the industry.
