Sony fans will be pleased to note that the excellent 65-inch Bravia 8 OLED TV has now been discounted to an all-time low price of 'just' $1,598 on Amazon, courtesy of an ongoing sale. The TV has received positive reviews from critics, and stands tall as a worthy contender against LG's and Samsung's offerings in this price range.
A premium price for a premium experience
According to RTINGS' comprehensive review of the Sony Bravia 8 OLED, the TV performs admirably well in almost every scenario. It gets to reap all the hallmark benefits of OLED panels, such as a near-infinite contrast ratio courtesy of pixel-level dimming, quick response times, and excellent colors. In terms of brightness, the Bravia 8 falls short of the LG C4 and Samsung S90D, although it is by no means a deal-breaker. The pre-calibration accuracy somewhat misses the mark, although once calibrated, the complaints vaporize.
For movie enthusiasts, the Sony Bravia 8 OLED is a truly excellent option, thanks to Sony's outstanding image processing. As WhatHiFi? notes, the Bravia 8, simply put, offers a better viewing experience than the C4. The C4 does undercut the Bravia 8 in price, although brand enthusiasts will hardly be held back by that. The Bravia 8 OLED's built-in speakers also offer a better experience than the LG C4, although buyers in this range are more than likely to opt for a premium soundbar. For gaming, however, the C4's 144 Hz refresh rate beats the Bravia 8's 120 Hz, and the former also sports four HDMI 2.1 ports compared to the Bravia's two.
All in all, at its current all-time low price, the Sony Bravia 8 OLED TV presents itself as a solid alternative for those looking for an excellent OLED TV and are willing to pay extra for a superior viewing experience.
