Fans feared Stardew Valley might not receive any more updates – making developer ConcernedApe’s latest announcement all the more exciting: Patch 1.7 is on the way.

Since its 2016 release, Stardew Valley has grown into one of the most successful indie games ever. In July 2025, it hit a new milestone: with 98% positive ratings from nearly 500,000 reviews, it became the highest-rated game on Steam, surpassing even Portal 2. Developer Eric Barone, better known as ConcernedApe, has been focused on his new project, Haunted Chocolatier, and had remained silent about future Stardew Valley content – until now.

The last major update arrived in March 2024, leaving many fans worried that no more content was coming. According to ConcernedApe, the next update was quietly announced during the Symphony of the Seasons tour in Seattle. Now the news has officially reached a wider audience on X: Stardew Valley is getting patch 1.7.

The developer has made it clear that there is no release date yet – not even an estimate. Eric Barone is known for taking his time, so it may be a while before the next major content patch arrives. Still, the announcement has sparked a wave of excitement across the community.

Under the post on X, many users expressed their thanks and began speculating about possible new features – from expanded post-marriage and parenting options to additional relationships, new Community Center events and technical upgrades like cross-play and cross-save. So far, however, no details have been revealed about what patch 1.7 will include. When asked whether the Stardew Valley update might slow down development on Haunted Chocolatier, ConcernedApe simply replied, “My plan is that this will not hinder Haunted Chocolatier development.”
