It has been over a year since Stardew Valley received its last major update with patch 1.6. Since then, fans have been eagerly awaiting new content and have not hesitated to reach out directly to developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone on X. Known for his close connection with the community, Barone frequently responds to such questions – and has now done so once again.
In response to a fan’s request for a sneak peek, ConcernedApe revealed the first concrete details about Stardew Valley 1.7. The update will expand the game’s social features, introducing more character interactions and new social elements – something the community has been hoping for for years. Barone also confirmed that the update will once again introduce a new farm type. He noted that major updates have traditionally come with a new farm, and that version 1.7 will continue this pattern.
To the delight of fans, ConcernedApe made it clear that the expanded social features and the new farm type are only part of what’s planned. There is “lots more” on the way, he teased, without sharing further details. The continued development of Stardew Valley so many years after its release is far from typical – especially given that Barone is also working on his next game, Haunted Chocolatier. That said, no release date has been announced for update 1.7, meaning players will likely have to remain patient a while longer.
