Conclusion on the Teufel Boomster 4
In our review, the Teufel Boomster 4 lives up to its reputation as an exceptionally versatile Bluetooth speaker with a radio function. The model delivers a particularly impressive overall performance in terms of sound: the speaker produces a powerful, comparatively balanced sound with a remarkably wide stereo image for its size. Even at higher volumes, the sound remains largely controlled, which clearly sets the Boomster 4 apart from many more compact all-around speakers.
On the other hand, Teufel has omitted some convenience features that one might reasonably expect in this price range. There is still no app connectivity. It’s also a shame that the previous power bank function has been dropped. All in all, however, the Boomster 4 remains a very well-rounded device for users looking for a robust, portable audio system with genuine sound quality.

With the Boomster 4, Teufel takes its most famous radio-speaker concept to the next level, focusing primarily on the aspects that really matter in everyday life: sound quality, battery life, and ease of use. The device remains a compact, portable speaker with DAB+, FM, and Bluetooth, but is clearly aimed at users who are looking for the most comprehensive all-in-one audio system possible, whether on the go or at home.
At the same time, the Boomster 4 stays true to the series’ character: it’s not just about playing loud, but also about delivering a rich and balanced sound. That’s exactly where its strength lies, because the device doesn’t try to be a lifestyle gadget, but rather a robust audio companion with serious sound quality.
Body - The Boomster 4 is splash-proof according to IPX5
From the very first touch, the Boomster 4 gives the impression of a high-quality, very solidly built product. The enclosure feels sturdy, the materials fit together seamlessly, and the controls also seem built to last.
The size remains conveniently portable without appearing small or flimsy. The Boomster 4 has enough presence to be recognized as a true speaker, yet remains compact enough to be easily carried from room to room or even outdoors. It is precisely this blend of solidity and portability that is one of the device’s greatest strengths.
Visually, the speaker has a simple yet modern look. It doesn’t appear futuristic, but rather timeless and practical. Those looking for a flashy design piece won’t find it here, but those who want a understated, high-quality device will get exactly that. However, the rubberized frame elements proved to be prone to dirt in our test and are difficult to clean.
Sustainability
The Teufel Boomster 4 comes in outer packaging made from 100% recycled materials and is shipped without any additional packaging.
Teufel does not provide specific details regarding the sustainability of its individual products. As of now, no replacement parts are available for the Boomster 4.
Features and controls - The Teufel Boomster plays audio content through all channels
When it comes to features, the Boomster 4 has a lot to offer. In addition to Bluetooth, it supports DAB+ and FM, plus it includes an AUX input for wired devices. The USB-C charging port is also up to date, making the speaker much more convenient to use in everyday life than many older radio speakers.
The combination of classic radio and wireless music streaming is particularly practical. This makes the Teufel Boomster 4 suitable not only for spontaneous use with a smartphone, but also as a full-fledged radio for the kitchen, workshop, patio, or office. Operation remains pleasantly straightforward, as Teufel relies on a more traditional control concept rather than outsourcing everything to an app.
On the one hand, this is appealing because it makes the speaker easier to use and allows you to operate it without a smartphone. On the other hand, this means it lacks the kind of modern convenience features you might expect from a product in this price range. If you prefer to make fine adjustments via an app, you’ll have less flexibility here than with some competitors.
In everyday use, the Boomster 4 impresses above all with its straightforward operation. Plug it in, turn it on, select the source, and you’re done.

Sound - Teufel speakers with rich sound
In terms of sound quality, the Boomster 4 is the real selling point. The speaker delivers impressive performance for its size, with a wide stereo image, clear speech intelligibility, and a noticeably powerful bass foundation. Teufel has tuned the system so that it sounds not only loud but also clean and controlled.
The speaker has a particularly pleasant presence in the midrange. Voices fill the room well, podcasts and radio shows benefit from the clear tuning, and music doesn’t get lost in a muddy soundscape. The bass is rich without overpowering the rest of the frequency range. Especially with pop, electronic, and mainstream music, this ensures a pleasantly full sound that gives the speaker its character. At the same time, the sound remains surprisingly controlled even at higher volumes, which is not a given in this size class.
However, those expecting a very analytical hi-fi sound will not find it here. The Boomster 4 deliberately sounds a bit more powerful and entertaining than soberly neutral. But that is exactly what makes it so appealing, because it conveys musical enjoyment without sounding cheap or overly artificial.

* ... smaller is better
THD (Total Harmonic Distortion): Harmonic distortion quantifies the magnitude of the components that arise from non-linear distortion (harmonic content) in relation to the original signal. THD refers only to the fundamental harmonic content. The distortion factor is often mentioned in the same breath, but refers to the overall signal.
THD+N (Total Harmonic Distortion + Noise): This value is comparable to THD, but in addition to the interference from harmonics, the interference from noise is also recorded as an effective value.
For the measurement, a low-harmonic sine wave signal (1 kHz, > 0 dB) is played through the headphones to be tested and recorded by a linear measuring microphone (measuring distance: approx. 1 cm) in an artificial head.

Battery life - The portable speaker easily lasts all day long
Teufel has significantly extended the Boomster 4’s battery life compared to its predecessor, and it’s now rated to last up to 23 hours at medium volume. That should generally be more than enough for a full day of continuous playback, and in most cases, it will last for several days. Of course, battery life depends heavily on the volume level and the connected device.
The battery can be charged via USB-C at up to 60 watts, but cannot be used to power connected devices.
