Sony Linkbuds WF-L900 launch event teased for next week
Sony has announced that it will host an 'exciting new product announcement' next week, scheduled for February 15 at 17:00 UTC (12:00 EST). Sony has provided a YouTube link to watch the event, so we can only presume it is another virtual affair. While Sony has not revealed any details about the upcoming product, it has included the tagline 'announcing an 'always-on' sound gateway' and the hashtag #NeverOff.
Hence, it seems likely that Sony is preparing to announce another audio product, following yesterday's announcement of the Walkman NW-WM1AM2 and Walkman NW-WM1ZM2. However, we doubt that Sony's next audio product will be as expensive as either of its new Walkmans, which both run to four figures. Instead, we imagine that the device will retail for less than US$249.99, the current price of the WF-1000XM4.
Incidentally, Sony's teasers are reminiscent of the Linkbuds WF-L900 that leaked last week. It remains unclear if Sony will release a WF-1000XM5 this year, but the Linkbuds WF-L900 is expected to launch with active noise cancellation (ANC), a proximity sensor and interchangeable wingtips. However, the open nature and doughnut-shape of the Linkbuds WF-L900 suggest that they will provide little to no isolation from background noise.
