Shuttle has designed the DS10U as a compact Digital Signage, Kiosk, Thin Client or Office mini PC. The device is also fanless, making it ideal for deploying in noise-sensitive environments, while still having enough performance for almost any tasks. The mini PC measures 20 x 16.5 x 3.95 cm and supports up to the Intel Core i7-8565U, a quad-core Whiskey Lake U processor that has a 15 W thermal design power (TDP) by default. Alternatively, the DS10U comes with a Celeron 4205U, Core i3-8145U or Core i5-8265U should you need less performance than the Core i7-8565U offers.
The machine also has two SODIMM slots that support up to 32 GB of DRR4 2400/2133 RAM, with also being able to output video to three external monitors simultaneously thanks to its HDMI 2.0a, DisplayPort 1.4 and VGA ports. The DS10U will not leave you short on storage either, with Shuttle including M.2 2280 Type M, M.2 2230 Type E and 2.5-inch drive bays. You could use the M.2 2230 bay for connecting a Wi-Fi card, but there are also two Gigabit Ethernet ports for wired connections.
The DS10U also has eight USB Type-A ports, four of which being USB 3.1 Gen2, with the others being USB 2.0. The mini PC has an SD card reader too, along with a COM port, a microphone in and a headphone jack. There currently appears to be no word on pricing or availability, with Shuttle having only announced the DS10U a few days ago. We will keep you updated on both when the series goes on sale.
