Shanling has launched the M1 Plus, a high-resolution portable sound player, priced at 1,298 yuan ($179). This third-generation player features the ES9069Q DAC and dual SGM8262 operational amplifiers, delivering a power output of 661mW at 32Ω. The M1 Plus is quite compact, offering up to 12.5 hours of battery life. The M1 Plus will be available for purchase in early August.

Shanling has introduced its latest portable sound player, the M1 Plus, as an upgrade to its previous M1 and M1s models. This third-generation "Shanling Series" player will tout new features, including the high-end ES9069Q DAC and dual SGM8262 operational amplifiers.

The ES9069Q DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter) is the same DAC chip present in the Fiio KA17 Portable USB DAC ($149 on Amazon). The dual SGM8262 operational amplifiers should help boost the audio signal, delivering powerful audio, particularly in the lower and higher frequency ranges.

A standout feature is its power output of 661mW at 32Ω. In practical terms, this means the M1 Plus can drive a wide range of headphones, including those that require more power to deliver high-quality sound. This power output is impressive for a player in its price range, typically seen in more expensive models. For comparison, similarly priced players like the Sony NW-A55 offer lower output, around 35mW+35mW at 16Ω. Users can pair the M1 Plus with high-fidelty headphones like the Sennheiser HD 660S ($674 on Amazon) to make the most of high-res audio.

The M1 Plus has a compact, palm-sized design with a claimed battery life of up to 12.5 hours. Priced at 1,298 yuan (~$179) as compared to the $160 price tag for the M1s on Amazon and available for purchase in early August, the M1 Plus seems to be a solid budget audio player going off the specs alone.
