For those wanting to properly mount their notebook drives onto desktops, consider this hybrid casing and cooling solution. As the Tokyo-based manufacturer of passive and low-noise PC parts, Scythe has announced a special covering for notebook drives that not only protects but will cool, prevent vibrations and reduce noise levels from the hard disk as well.

Called the Himuro Mini HDD Cooler, the aluminum heatsink container can hold a regular 2.5-inch drive with thermal conductive sheets for installation on a 3.5-inch bay. The cooler is compatible with parallel and SATA 2.5-inch drives of up to 14.8mm thick. Overall, the dimensions of the fanless cooler come out to be 101.5x113x25mm.

The Himuro Mini cooler is expected to be available by the end of the week in Europe for €14.25 ($20.68). The official product page can be seen here.
