The Samsung SF310 is the kind of compromise we’re happy to make. You could certainly improve on it (and not just with a touchpad that didn't jump around like a nervous cat). Nvidia's Optimus graphics do an excellent job of combining power and power efficiency, the Core i5 is a workhorse processor and we like the fast startup. There are more powerful systems, there are notebooks with a better screen or sound system, there are ultraportables with longer battery life - but there aren't many notebooks with this combination of style, performance and battery life at this price

The SF310 comes with impressive specifications and an excellent keyboard, but is ultimately let down by a fiddly trackpad. With a weight over 2kg and a battery that can't be swapped out, it is unlikely to endear itself to the business traveller

Although the Samsung SF310 notebook appears largely unexceptionable when it comes to styling, display and peripherals, it nevertheless packs a sizeable CPU punch, and its dual role graphics system and good battery life will ensure it finds plenty of friends.

Samsung's latest ultra-portable laptop looks gorgeous and has good battery life, yet we're still not totally taken with it. Read our review to find out why.

NVIDIA GeForce 310M: The GeForce 310M is the successor of the GeFore G210M and based on the same chip with very similar clock rates (shader speed +30MHz to 1530MHz).
Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.

460M: The Core i5-460M has only 3 MB L3 Cache (compared to the I7-620M) and clocks between 2.53-2.8 GHz (Turbo Mode). Thanks to Hyperthreading, 4 threads can be processed simultaneously. An integrated graphics card (GMA HD) and a DDR3 memory controller are also included in the package.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

There are hardly any tablets in this display size range anymore. For subnotebooks, on the other hand, it is the standard format.
The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small and therefore easily portable. The smaller display also has the advantage of requiring less power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is more strenuous on the eyes. High resolutions are more likely to be found in standard laptops.

Samsung Group employed 489,000 people in 2014 and is one of the world's largest companies in terms of revenue and market strength. The name Samsung means "Three Stars" in Korean and represents the three sons of the company's founder. The company was founded in 1938 as a grocery store. With its subsidiary Samsung Electronics, founded in 1969, Samsung took up the production of electrotechnical items, focusing on consumer electronics and household appliances at an early stage. Other branches in which the large corporation is active include mechanical engineering, automobiles (Hyundai), insurance, wholesale, real estate and leisure. Samsung manufactures a wide range of electronic products, including smartphones, televisions, home appliances and semiconductors. The company's Galaxy line of smartphones is one of the most popular in the world. Samsung is also a major player in the semiconductor industry, making memory chips and processors for many other electronics manufacturers.
75%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
