Super AMOLED style. The Samsung Galaxy TabPro S is a smart 12-inch tablet that comes with a usable keyboard good battery life and an impressive screen.

We love the design, the screen, and the typing experience but were hoping for more ports, power and longevity. The TabPro S will fit the bill for some users, but in an increasingly competitive market, we’re left wondering how much life is left in this slate before something with similar functionality at a lower price point comes along, IFAs just around the corner after all.

80% Taking on the Microsoft Surface Pro

Overall, Samsung's first bash at a laptop-replacement tablet gets plenty of things right. It runs full Windows 10, lasts for a full working day, has a bright and colourful screen (although it's not class-leading in terms of resolution), and a solid design compared to Samsung tablets of old. It's not perfect though: the included keyboard cover has a tiny trackpad, isn't designed especially well for folding up quickly, and its two-position stand options are restrictive (not a patch on the Surface Pro's kickstand design).

There’s a lot to like about the Samsung Galaxy TabPro S. The AMOLED display is one of the best we've used, the design is premium and the battery lives up to Samsung's big claims. It's not without its downsides, however, as the keyboard add-on is pretty shonky and the performance fails to match similarly-specced devices that come with Intel's Core i5 or Core i7 chips.

The Galaxy TabPro S is a decent Windows 10 tablet, as long as you’re happy to live with the need for adapters if you want to use any wired peripherals. Its potential is somewhat hobbled though by the merely okay battery life and the absence of a stylus in the box.

The good news is that Samsung plans on offering a “C-Pen” stylus for the TabPro S, although it’s currently not available to purchase and it doesn’t have a price. Expect it to cost somewhere in the range of $60-70 extra. If you want a more powerful tablet, you’ll have to look past the TabPro S. Again, the Surface Pro 4 could be a good option here: the Core i5 model with 8 GB of RAM and a 256 GB SSD costs $1,299 (or $1,428 with the Type Cover). But that’s more than $500 dearer than the TabPro S, a tablet that will suit buyers well enough at its more affordable asking price.

A Premium, Ultra-Thin Windows Convertible
Source: Hot Hardware English Archive.org version
Microsoft’s latest Surface Pro devices have higher resolution screens, more ports and – depending on the configuration – more power than the Galaxy TabPro S, but an important point to keep in mind is that the price tag on the Galaxy TabPro S is much lower than it seems at first glance.

This is tricky to answer, since the device is a little schizophrenic. The fact it comes bundled with a keyboard makes it feel like a laptop replacement out of the box, but everything else about it screams tablet. The screen is the best I’ve seen on any convertible and is perfect for designers and artists. However, the fact that you have to pay extra for the C-Pen and its lack of ports mean you can’t take advantage of its prowess without shelling out more money. This isn't ideal when you consider the device’s hefty up-front £850 cost.

Samsung's Galaxy TabPro S is a classic case of: it’s great, but it isn’t for everyone. In the ‘wins’ column, it’s a bit of a marvel. It is so slim, its screen is punchier and more vibrant that those of laptop three times the price and it leaves an iPad Pro looking a bit like an Early Learning Centre toy if what you need is a something to power an honest day’s work. Is it something I’m going to be recommending to everyone with £850 just begging to be spent carelessly? Not exactly.

There’s no doubting that Samsung has built a lovely laptop replacement in the TabPro S, and we love that the company has thought to include things that would be premium accessories, but it just needs more. It needs a Bluetooth stylus, and it desperately needs more storage as either a minimum or a microSD slot. And Windows 10 needs to be finessed a little more, with less of these “Galaxy Settings” stuff that feels like it dents performance.

60% Samsung Galaxy TabPro S review - a flawed rival to the Surface Pro 4
Source: Expert Reviews English Archive.org version
There’s a lot to like about the Samsung Galaxy TabPro S. Its beautiful display comes top of its class, it has great battery life, and its superior performance came as a very welcome surprise. As an inaugural 2-in-1, Samsung has got off to an impressive start. However, it’s difficult to overlook some of the TabPro S's shortcomings, such as the disappointing keyboard cover and its rather wobbly docking mechanism. As a Windows-based tablet, it’s wonderful; as a laptop, not so much.

The Galaxy TabPro S is the latest Surface Pro competitor: a tablet with a click-in keyboard that's powerful enough to potentially replace a laptop. As a first-generation product, it excels in tablet mode, offering both a thin design and long battery life -- a rare combination. But the keyboard needs work: It's cramped layout makes typos inevitable.

In the end, the Galaxy TabPro S isn’t the Surface Pro–killer some may expect it to be…but it’s an awesome little convertible, even with the keyboard’s drawbacks and the curious screen-dimming behavior. If you can look past its foibles, that OLED panel alone makes this a worthy purchase.

The consumer tablet market is kind of passe these days, but 2-in-1’s have already had a 40% yoy growth. Microsoft’s Surface Pro “the tablet that can replace your laptop” has been doing very well and even Apple is trying to market their iPad Pro as a laptop replacement. Businesses and consumers really do want their tablets to be completely capable of doing everything their desktop and laptop PCs do, even if that means latching on a keyboard and pairing a wireless mouse once in a while. Having one large-screen thin computer that you can set up on a desk for typing or write on like a clipboard while walking around is just as compelling as a phone that also plays MP3s and takes pictures was in 2002.

80% Samsung Galaxy TabPro S Review: Compromised for Mobility
Source: Notebookreview.com English Archive.org version
Device mobility requires functional compromise. For the Samsung Galaxy TabPro S, that compromise comes in the form of a lone USB Type-C port for charging and everything else, and an uncomfortable keyboard. Both are a nuisance we can live with if relegating the TabPro S to a travel device. Its strengths, like its slick design and outstanding battery life lend itself to such. And maybe that’s how Samsung distinguishes its high-end 2-in-1 with Microsoft’s. The TabPro S is built for mobility, while the Surface Pro 4 strikes more of a balance with its complement of ports and slightly bulkier build.

Tablets being used as productivity tools has not really caught on too well with consumers. Much of this has to do with the high cost or the lack of support for traditional software. Samsung's Galaxy TabPro S does a great job at making a 2-in-1 tablet design that is not incredibly expensive but still remains portable and functional.

The TabPro S offers a vibrant Super AMOLED display and decent performance for less than a grand, with the best battery life of any detachable we've tested this year. However, this hybrid is a better tablet than it is a laptop, because of its shallow keyboard and a display that can wobble in your lap. Plus, you'll have to be willing to sacrifice a full-size USB port and memory card slot.

The Samsung TabPro S has left me smitten. It is, hands down, the best Windows 10 tablet for watching video and reading online. This should come as no surprise considering the company's rich history of Android devices. That said, the keyboard case is a major let down. It's works well when you grab it out of your bag and set it on a table, but it's almost too unstable to safely use on your lap. Plus, you'll need a place to throw the keyboard accessory whenever you want to use the TabPro S as a straight tablet.

Hands on: Samsung's Galaxy TabPro S is a 2-in-1 worth considering
Source: Computerworld.com English Archive.org version
While I have only used the tablet for a short time so far, performance seems quite satisfactory -- and the display is really excellent. The keyboard cover is a bit more awkward to use than the Surface Pro's, but offers a very satisfactory typing experience -- and doesn't have to be purchased separately. You get both the tablet and the keyboard cover for $900, which is $129 less than you'd pay for the equivalent Surface Pro 4.

Model: The Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S W700N is an elegant and capable Windows tablet. The slim and lightweight chassis makes it a breeze to carry around despite its large screen size. There are two colors to choose from; black and white. A durable curved bezel surrounds the tablet and the back cover is nicely textured for optimal grip. Productivity is increased with the detachable keyboard. The 693 g tablet comes with either Windows 10 Home or Pro edition and sports a quality 12 inch FHD+ sAMOLED touch display. Color saturation and detail sharpness are superb with the sAMOLED providing deep black.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S W700Nis is equipped with an Intel Core M dual-core processor clocked at 2.2 GHz, 4 GB RAM, and either a 128 GB or 256 GB SSD depending on the selected configuration. There are two 5 MP cameras, one on the front, the other on the rear of the device. Other features found on the tablet are NFC, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and a Type C USB 3.1 port. A 5200 mAh battery makes for a battery life of up to 10.5 hours and is fast charging ready.

Intel HD Graphics 515: Integrated GPU (GT2) with 24 EUs found on Core-m-CPUs of the Skylake generation (4,5 W TDP).

12.10":

This range of display format is largely the upper limit for tablets and the lower limit for subnotebooks.

The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small in size and therefore easily portable. The tiny display has the added advantage of requiring little power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is exhausting for the eyes. High resolutions, which one is used to from a standard laptop, are almost not usable.

The same applies to tablets in this size range.

Samsung: Samsung Group is the largest South Korean conglomerate and was founded in 1938. Samsung Group employed 489,000 people in 2014 and is one of the world's largest companies in terms of revenue and market strength. The name Samsung means "Three Stars" in Korean and represents the three sons of the company's founder. The company was founded in 1938 as a grocery store. With its subsidiary Samsung Electronics, founded in 1969, Samsung took up the production of electrotechnical items, focusing on consumer electronics and household appliances at an early stage. Other branches in which the large corporation is active include mechanical engineering, automobiles (Hyundai), insurance, wholesale, real estate and leisure. Samsung manufactures a wide range of electronic products, including smartphones, televisions, home appliances and semiconductors. The company's Galaxy line of smartphones is one of the most popular in the world. Samsung is also a major player in the semiconductor industry, making memory chips and processors for many other electronics manufacturers.

79.99%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
