It seems likely that Apple are already planning the details for a future release of a second-generation iPad Mini but according to sources quoted by Digitimes, some specifications have already been decided upon. The website quotes from Taiwan-based industry insiders that Apple will release the next version of its popular miniature tablet with an improved screen which could possibly utilize Retina Display technology.
Should the next-generation iPad Mini feature such a display this would mean a high resolution of 2058x1536 and 326 ppi. However, to operate the improved display a larger battery and a different processor would be required. The report issued by the Taiwan-based source also said Apple would restructure the next generation of its 9.7-inch iPad range and reduce the LED light bars from two to one making the device lighter.
Although no release date has yet been set for an iPad Mini successor some suggest that fall 2013 would be a likely time, not even a full year after the release of the original tablet. As Apple stock continues to fall with the latest share price listed on NASDAQ at $507.24, the company will likely be looking to make some solid device releases in 2013 to try and reverse this worrying trend.
