Case and equipment - Italian flair with the light chassis
We already took a closer look at the realme 11 Pro some time ago. The Plus version features a better camera system with a 200-megapixel main camera, wide-angle lens, and more storage on request, the surcharge for which is approximately 100 Euros (~$100). The top model with 512 GB of storage and 12 GB of RAM costs around 520 Euros ex-works.
Despite the additional features, at 189 grams the realme 11 Pro+ is even a bit lighter than the 11 Pro and other phones in the price range, although, for example, a Google Pixel 7a is considerably more compact in terms of dimensions.
Our test device comes in Sunrise Beige with a synthetic leather back, which was designed by Matteo Menotto, an Italian designer. Together with the circular camera module, the phone looks very chic and unusual. The phone is also available in plain black if you prefer a more restrained look. The chassis is cleanly manufactured and looks very high-quality. However, there is no IP certification, so the realme 11 Pro+ should not be taken into water.
The realme phone does not have a microSD reader, but NFC is installed so that you can communicate with nearby devices and use mobile payment services like Google Pay.
Communication, software and operation - Quite short update period
WiFi 6 is installed as the WLAN standard, and the realme 11 Pro+ achieves fast average data rates of between 721 and 782 Mbps. A gigabit line cannot be fully utilized, but the data transfer is very fast overall. Other phones in this price range usually achieve even higher data rates: the Google Pixel 7a, for example, can also use the 6 GHz band, which is less densely occupied.
There is support for 5G in terms of mobile networks, but the realme 11 Pro+ has to make some concessions in terms of frequency diversity.
The software is based on Android 13 and is called realmeUI 4. The security patches are from July 2023 at the time of testing and are thus fairly up-to-date. The manufacturer promises to still deliver Android 14 and 15 for the phone and to provide security updates until 2026. Many third-party apps and games are preinstalled. Users who do not want them have to clean up first.
Widevine certification is present, so you can enjoy full-quality videos from streaming providers.
The touchscreen is very sensitive and easy to use even in the corners. It can display up to 120 frames per second, which means that responses to inputs are also very prompt. The fingerprint sensor is invisibly integrated behind the screen, it is located very far down so that it can be easily reached even with small hands. There is only a minimal delay when unlocking.
The use of facial data for biometric unlocking is also possible, but not as secure due to the use of pure 2D photos.

Cameras - More flexibility with the realme 11 Pro+
The biggest difference to the realme 11 Pro is the camera system: The Plus model has a 200-megapixel main camera with a slightly higher light sensitivity. There is also an optical image stabilizer. The pictures have a nice bokeh in close-ups but are ultimately a bit less detailed and sharp than high-end cameras.
In very low light and high contrasts, there is decent brightening, but it does not come close to more expensive camera systems. Drawing is particularly lacking in dark areas.
The wide-angle camera is available in the realme 11 Pro but only in the Plus model. It takes decent snapshots, but details are hardly visible in the magnification. The brightness on cloudy days is also rather mediocre.
The third lens on the back is a fairly low-resolution macro camera that can also only be used for snapshots that should not be enlarged too much.
On the front, there is a 32-megapixel camera that is not particularly good for low-light situations. In good light, the selfies are quite decent, but we see weaknesses in the details, especially in the dynamics in darker areas, when zoomed in.

Display - AMOLED screen with good brightness
As usual in this price range, the realme 11 Pro+ also features a Full HD screen based on AMOLED technology. Here, every diode lights up by itself and can also be turned off completely, so no backlight is necessary and complete black can theoretically be displayed.
The maximum brightness is on a good level with an average of 779 cd/m², but it is not quite sufficient for rendering HDR content. Colors are reproduced very accurately in "natural" mode, and we detect a minimal green cast at most in the grayscale.
Although realme advertises that the PWM frequency for dimming the screen increases up to 2,180 Hz in low ambient light and should thus not be as strenuous for the eyes, we measure significantly lower values. These are still in a range that should be okay for normal users, but sensitive people should try the screen before buying.

The display backlight flickers at 439 Hz (Likely utilizing PWM) . The frequency of 439 Hz is relatively high, so most users sensitive to PWM should not notice any flickering. However, there are reports that some users are still sensitive to PWM at 500 Hz and above, so be aware. In comparison: 53 % of all tested devices do not use PWM to dim the display. If PWM was detected, an average of 18704 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 3846000) Hz was measured. |

Performance, emissions and battery life - Fast charging possible
The MediaTek Dimensity 7050 is an SoC for mid-range phones, but it cannot quite keep up with many other devices in the price range around 500 Euros. Thus, a Google Pixel 7a or the OnePlus Nord 3 are much more powerful.
The graphics performance is also much lower and often only allows 30 fps in more demanding games. In everyday use, most apps can be executed smoothly with the realme 11 Pro+ and even occasional multi-tasking is not a big problem. You only notice the difference when a lot of performance is demanded.
The maximum temperature of 46.3 °C is quite high, especially since we measured it at room temperature. However, it is very selective and will probably only rarely be reached in everyday use. The SoC only throttles very slightly even under high, prolonged load.
The acoustic system consists of a dedicated speaker on the bottom edge and the earpiece, which is used as a second sound source for stereo effects. The sound is clear, but a bit treble-heavy, so audio fans will probably rather look forward to connecting external devices: This works via USB-C port or Bluetooth.
SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD, LDAC, LHDC, aptX Adaptive, and aptX TWS+ are available as wireless audio codecs.
The 5,000 mAh battery in the realme 11 Pro+ lasts for 13:49 hours in our WLAN test, which is typical for the class. The runtime indicates that the phone can be used for a whole day with less demanding tasks. If you do have to charge the phone, the included 100-watt power supply helps to keep the charging time short: The battery can be recharged to 50% in 15 minutes at the most and to 100% in just under an hour.

Verdict - Pretty, but not quite as powerful
The realme 11 Pro+ is even a bit better equipped than its smaller brother realme 11 Pro, and brings more flexibility to the camera system with the wide-angle lens and the light-sensitive, high-resolution main camera.
The simple or very chic exterior is also a plus point of the phone, especially since it has a clean and high-quality build. However, the performance is not quite as convincing in view of the price as it was with the realme 11 Pro - in the price range above 500 Euros more is demanded. You can also see some phones with even faster WLAN. Most manufacturers also offer longer software support.
Nevertheless, the realme 11 Pro+ is well equipped for everyday use: It is fun to use the smartphone thanks to fast charging, good runtimes, a fairly bright screen, and a good accessory package ex-works.
The realme 11 Pro+ looks chic, and offers a flexible camera system, good runtimes, and plenty of storage.
You get more performance in the OnePlus North 3 or the Google Pixel 7a. Especially with the Google Phone, the regular and very long software support is not to be sneezed at.
Price and availability
The realme 11 Pro+ is available at amazon.de, for example. At the time of testing, the 512 GB model is even reduced to 470 or 480 Euros depending on the color variant.
You pay a bit more at galaxus.de or jacob.de, where you have to pay about 490 and 530 Euros, respectively.
